Captain Brian Sherman has been called the “Pied Piper of Redfish” whether on the kayak or in the boat. Fishing out of the world renowned Sportsman’s Paradise - Venice Louisiana, Captain Brian has been guiding out of boats and kayaks for over 9 years.

Born and raised on the lakes of Northern Michigan, Brian spent his youth chasing smallmouth bass, walleye and northern pike. He fished the salmon tournament circuits in Western and Northern Michigan until 2005. Brian experienced his first taste of South Louisiana fishing while participating in relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina. This inspired Brian to get his US Coast Guard Captain’s license and become an inshore fishing guide

Captain Brian developed a passion for kayak fishing after purchasing two kayaks for he and his son seven years ago. With his son Nolan, also a captain they started KayakVeniceLa They have been offering kayak fishing charters, kayak mother-shipping charters and inshore fishing out of bay boats ever since. This year they have also started offering both Fly Fishing and Bowfishing to the repertoire.

“The excitement and growth never stops” with the incredible fisheries in Venice Louisiana said Brian. Captain Brian loves filming his clients on the famous “Cajun Sleighride”; that is when a bullred tows them around in the kayak for several minutes making a memory that will last a lifetime.
